Before joining the High Park team she worked in other small animal hospitals as well as volunteering for an animal research facility in Guelph.  She has completed her BSc. in animal biology in 2006 where she focused her attention to nutrition and reproduction in both farm and companion animals. She keeps busy by reading, gardening, and playing ringette and soccer. She currently lives with a larger than life Lab named Gigolo, a festively plump cat named Punk and a gerbil named Post It.

Alana

Alana has been working at the clinic since Oct. 2006.  From her short time being with us, she has turned her apprehension of exotic animals into an interest, especially with the Avian and Lagomorph species.  Alana is currently pursuing a post-secondary education at the University of Guelph in the Animal Biology Program.  Subsequent to her undergraduate studies, she plans on applying to the OVC in hopes of becoming a DVM.  Alana has about 5 years of experience working with animals in boarding, grooming and doggie daycare style settings.  She truly enjoys dog grooming, especially long haired and double coated breeds.  She has two fur-bearing creatures that call her mom:  a female chow named “Chikoo’s Cherubic Contessa” a.k.a. “Taija” and a male Holland Lop Rabbit named “George”.  Alana hopes that she can someday be equipped with the right knowledge and expertise to breed chows in an effort to preserve the breeds’ standard.
