Dr. Karen Regan
Dr.Regan has been working at the Animal Hospital of High Park since 1997. She obtained her HBSc at the
University of
Toronto in Biochemistry and her DVM at the
University of
Guelph in 1997. She has previously appeared on the television show, Michael Coren Live, for pet care advice. Dr. Regan has an interest in all aspects of continuing veterinary education, as well as ultrasound and endoscopy of all exotic pets. Some of her other interests are scuba diving, travelling and reading. She lectures for various animal care groups in
Ontario and continues to develop the ultrasound and endoscopic services at the Animal Hospital of High Park. She would also like to finish current studies to become an Avian Board Certified Veterinarian. Currently she cohabitates a lively Tucamen Amazon parrot named Pickle, and deeply misses Phoenix, Whiskers, Navar and Bailey.

Dr. Ginger Louws Dr. Louws joined the staff of The Animal Hospital of High Park July 2007. She recently completed her DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College at, the University of Guelph. During her time at the university Dr. Louws, was President of Animal Welfare Club. This organization promotes Animal Welfare and organizes an annual Forum bringing in speakers worldwide to help raise funds for research increasing the welfare of farm and companion animals. She was also an active volunteer at the Wild Bird Clinic, working with the resident Red-Tail Hawk named Kaila and helping to promote responsible stewardship of wildlife. She has worked at the Avian/Exotics clinic at the Ontario Veterinary College and at their Intensive Care Unit. She has a special interest in the avian species and the care of all our companion animals. Her hobbies include cycling, hiking, visual arts, theatre and singing. She is owner by two budgies named Bobby Blue and Lester Rhienhart, as well as three cats named Ayla, Luci Chedder and Drift.

Dr. Robin Lane Dr. Lane has been working at the Animal Hospital of High Park since 1994. He previously owned and worked at Campus Estates Animal Hospital in Guelph, as well as the Genetic Diagnostic Company at AVI Diagnostics. Dr. Lane was also the original co-director of OVC's Wild Bird Clinic. He has a BSc AgR, obtained his DVM and then became an Avian Board Certified Veterinary Practitioner, recertifying in 2004. Dr. Lane's interests include genetics, laboratory diagnostics, overseas ministries and gardening. He hopes to be involved in water projects overseas, and fund clinical research in various psittacine and other non-domestic companion animals. He has 2 grown children, Jen and Chris, and previously bred rabbits, parrots and finches. He was also the proud former owner of a 17 year old dog named Lucy and 4 very independant cats. |

Dr. Jennifer Thompson Dr. Thompson has been at the Animal Hospital of High Park since 2004. She had previously worked in British Columbia as a small animal veterinarian. Dr. Thompson has a BSc in Honours Physics, a MSc in Biomedical Physics and received her DVM at OVC in 2003. She has a special interest in feline medicine and surgery, dermatology, dentistry and all exotics. Dr. Thompson enjoys swimming, scuba diving and hiking and hopes to be able to travel and scuba dive around the world. She has 2 dogs, Laura, an Aussie mix and Olive, a beagle, as well as 4 cats, Todd, Cora Lee, Jenny Craig, and Ashley. |

Dr. Morrow joined the Animal Hospital of High Park in June 2009. She received her BSc from the University of Guelph in 2005 and D.V.M. degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009. During vet school she was a member in several clubs including the Animal Welfare Club and Zoo, Exotic and Wildlife (ZEW) Club. In 2007 she spent 9 weeks in East Africa volunteering on various veterinary-related projects. The projects included surveying small-scale chicken farmers, intestinal parasite survey of wild herbivores in Katavi National Park, working with the Uganda SPCA and surveying low-income swine farmers in Kenya. She hopes to continue international and national work in the future. She is keenly interested in maintaining a high standard of pet health through preventative medicine and education. Special interests include dermatology and exotic species medicine. She enjoys staying active through running, swimming and spending time with her family at their cottage. She is the proud owner of a dog she rescued from the SPCA, named Cooper. |

Dr. Don Dawson Dr. Dawson co-founded the Animal Hospital of High Park in 1986. He has previous experience at the Richmond Hill Veterinary Clinic, Thornhill Veterinary Clinic, Ontario Humane Society Veternary Emergency Clinic, Unionville Veterinary Clinic, Kawartha Animal Hospital and Birchmount Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Dawson obtained his BSc in 1978 at the University of Toronto and his DVM at the University of Guelph in 1984. He has a special interest in "pocket pet" and rabbit medicine and surgery, travelling, woodworking and continuing education at the TAVM and Western States Conference. He hopes to continue to improve rabbit, pocket pet, dog and cat medicine and surgery, renovate the clinic and it's newly expanded space (now 3000 sqaure feet), as well as utilize our new dental x-ray facility and flexible endoscopy equipment. Dr. Dawson plans on spending the summer relaxing and traveling with his wife and his son, who is at the University of Waterloo for computer science. Dr. Dawson currently has Mango the lovebird and a cat, Lilli Murrrhissa, a Lynx Point Siamese. Dr. Dawson is currently on a leave of absence. |

Dr. Petra Burgmann Dr.Burgmann began working in veterinary clinics at the age of 15. She received her BSc in 1980, and DVM in 1984 from the University of Guelph. She has been practicing exotic pet medicine ever since. She opened her own exotic practice, the Animal Hospital of High Park, in 1986. In 1993 she was the first Canadian to be board certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Avian Practice, and she recertified in this specialty in 2002. Dr. Burgmann is the author of "Feeding Your Pet Bird" as well as a contributing author in avian and exotic pet medicine to numerous other texts, journals and publications. She has lectured in exotic pet medicine at the University of Guelph, Seneca College, Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine, Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians, Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, Canadian Parrot Symposium and many other special interest groups. She has also appeared on CFRB, CBC radio, CBC television and Cable 10 Community Broadcasting. Interests include complementary medicine, with a special interest in homeopathy, Bach flower remedies, aromatherapy and herbal medicine. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, the Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine, the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Thyme on our Hands Herb Guild and Bayview Watercolour Society. She is the proud owner of Mango the lovebird, and Lilli Murrrhissa, a Lynx Point Siamese. She is currently on a leave of absence. |
